From the login screen, click Forgot password?. We'll email a reset link to the address on your account. The link expires after 1 hour for security. If you don't see it, check spam, then add contact@zabulan.com to your contacts.
Open Settings → Security and turn on Two-factor authentication. We'll guide you through pairing an authenticator app (Authy, 1Password, Google Authenticator, etc.). After that, every login from a new device requires a 6-digit code.
If you lose access to your authenticator, contact us with proof of account ownership and we'll help you recover it.
Go to Settings → Account and edit your email. We'll send a verification link to the new address — your account email isn't changed until you click it.
From Settings → Account → Danger Zone, click Delete my account. You'll be asked to type your password and confirm. Deletion is immediate and irreversible — all notes, files, mind maps, drawings, charts, and tickets are removed within 24 hours.
Before deleting, consider exporting your data (Settings → Export) — once deleted, we can't recover anything.
No — an account is required. Zab Notes is a cloud application: your notes live in your account so they are backed up and available on every device you sign in on.
Go to Settings → Export. You'll get a ZIP containing:
Export works at any time — even during your free trial — and you own everything you create.
Notes you mark as Encrypted are protected with XChaCha20-Poly1305 (a modern authenticated cipher). The key is derived from your vault passphrase, which we never store or transmit — meaning we cannot read your encrypted notes even if we wanted to.
Non-encrypted notes are stored on our servers in plain form (still secured at the database level, but readable to administrators if compelled by law). If a note is sensitive, encrypt it.
Yes. Sign in on each device and you see the same notes — they live in your account, not on one device. If a device loses its connection, notes you have opened stay available and edits made offline are sent when it reconnects. There is no per-device limit.
Zab Notes is cloud-based first: your notes live in your account and need a connection to load. If you lose your connection, the notes you have already opened stay readable and editable, and edits made offline are sent automatically when you are back online. If a note changed elsewhere in the meantime, your offline edit is kept as a version rather than overwriting it. Other tools (kanban, calendar, drawings) and images stored in the cloud need a connection.
Imports from Markdown, HTML, Notion, Evernote, and Bear are supported via Settings → Import. Each imported file becomes a note; folder structure is preserved when possible. Tags and cross-references are mapped to Zab Notes' tag and link systems.
Nothing is deleted right away. You keep full access through the end of the month you've paid for. After that, your data stays exportable for 90 days so you can download everything or come back — we never lock you out of your own notes.
$10 a month. That's the whole price list — every feature, every tool, every device, all updates. There are no tiers, add-ons or upgrade fees. Start with a free 30-day trial (no credit card) and subscribe when you're ready. See the pricing page for details.
Yes. A custom perpetual license is a customized variation of Zab Notes tailored specifically to you — your own name (for example Billy's Zab Notes), your own domain, and the customizations you need — delivered under a one-time perpetual license with no monthly fee. Open a ticket below with the Billing category (or email contact@zabulan.com) and include your offer, the intended use, the name and domain you want, and any customizations. Pricing starts at $1,000; the final price depends on the customization and is quoted individually.
Both happen from inside the app, in Settings. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for; you keep access until then and your data stays exportable for 90 days afterwards.
Activation is instant in 99% of cases. If the badge hasn't updated within 5 minutes, log out and back in to refresh. If it's still wrong after that, send us a ticket with your receipt — we'll fix it within an hour during business hours.
If Zab Notes isn't for you, tell us within 7 days of your first charge and we'll refund it — email us or open a ticket below with the Billing category. After that, simply cancel and you won't be charged again.
Yes — and it's a first-class target. The drawing tools support Apple Pencil pressure and tilt, charts/mind maps work with touch and pencil, and the layout adapts to portrait or landscape. The Magic Keyboard works for all keyboard shortcuts.
Charts requires a screen wider than ~700 pixels because the data grid and preview pane don't compress well below that. Use Charts on a tablet or desktop. Everything else (notes, kanban, mind maps, calendar, captures) works fine on phones.
Connect your Spotify account from Settings → Integrations. The mini-player and full Music tool then control Spotify directly — playback, queue, library — without leaving Zab Notes. Your listening history isn't stored or shared by us.
Yes. Right-click any tool in the activity bar and choose Open in new window. Edits in one window sync to the other in real time via BroadcastChannel — useful when Speechify is reading a note in one window while you mind-map in another.
Open any item (note, kanban board, mind map, drawing, chart, calendar event, or capture), click Link to…, and pick another item. The link is bidirectional and visible in Graph View as a connection between nodes.
Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, and Brave on their last two major versions. Mobile Safari and Chrome on Android also work. Older browsers may run but won't get full feature support — particularly the Drawing canvas and Graph View, which need modern Canvas and CSS features.

Confirmed bugs get fixed in the next minor release; severe ones get hotfixed.
Most slowdowns come from one of three things:
If none of that helps, send us a ticket with details and we'll investigate.
An official API is on the roadmap but not available yet. The data export tool is the recommended way to get your content out for use elsewhere. If you have a specific automation use case, let us know — it helps us prioritize.
Zab Notes is a Progressive Web App. In Chrome/Edge, click the install icon in the address bar. On iOS Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, you'll see a prompt to install. After installation it runs in its own window with offline support.
